The Seeking Heart by François Fénelon
This is a phenomenal book about walking in the way of the cross. I guess it just depends on how hard you want to work at reading it. Each short selection can be read independently. Prayer is not made great by a lot of words, for God knows your inmost feelings before you say them.

As you can see, Fenelon’s call to faith is a call to share in the suffering of Jesus, not to enjoy the riches of the world. God wants to build a relationship with you that is based on faith and trust and not on glamorous miracles. You can see God in all things, but never so clearly as when you suffer. You will then be able to quiet all your inner commotion as soon as it starts to be churned up.
