Plus, he keeps calling her Bianca is out with her two best friends when Wesley Rush comes up to her and lets her know her standing. Yet that’s exactly what she goes for and embraces wholeheartedly. Hell, we’ve probably all been the Duff at one time or another.

Because Vicki, a girl at school, had a pregnancy scare. My heart broke the more we found out about him. What bothered me more was the way in which sex was portrayed in this book. Not to mention this book was written by a fetus.
Good narrator, entertaining story. Not just some tiny, pesky, easily solved, insignificant problem. View all 30 comments. They are far from the swaggering, confident, sexually powerful teens in this book.
I felt terrible every time Bianca would say something like this. Yet what does she do? Proud to have great frkend who, in their mind, were my Duffs.
Is there anything wrong with this well-tread territory? Look at the title. I only wanted his body. There’s the movie releasing next year.
And some of ,ody things I really loved about the book seem to be missing from the film… but back to the book!
I was unsure as to whether I wanted to listen to frienr book or not and I am so glad that I did. Instead of dealing with her problems, Bianca masters the art of escapism. And the thing is, so does Bianca. She doesn’t talk to her father about his alcoholic relapse and she doesn’t even tell her mother it’s happened. There is a feminist undertone to the last parts of the book, where Bianca reaches a realisation that duff, like slut and whore, are just labels that are created to designwted women down.
The messages sent in this book were confused to say the least. Even so, the book is a pleasure to read – there’s some great dialogue, the emotional landscape is comfortingly familiar and the whole thing is genuinely good-hearted without being saccharine. By the end of the book though?
While I was in high school, I hated double standards and yet was probably guilty of believing in some of them. I liked Bianca and Wes’ ending that wasn’t the problem.

At the end, view spoiler [Bianca informs Wesley that they will no longer be having sex. And his older brother Conrad – her secret crush – seems distant and cold. Kepliinger doesn’t tell her friends what’s going on at home. That I just locked in their rooms until they turn Bianca is out with her two best friends when Wesley Rush comes up to her and lets her know her standing.
She is monotone, stiff and bored sounding throughout the first half of the book and the second half is only slightly better. Desperate for a distraction, Bianca ends up kissing Wesley. No matter where you go or what you do to distract yourself, reality catches up with you eventually.
It wraps up so neatly with a giant bow on top, Pretty Woman style.
Lying Out Loud By: It’s pointlessly self-destructive, of course – someone as gorgeous as Wesley could never feel anything for a Duff like Bianca.
